The history
The distinctive art nouveau building, Hotel Brosundet, is located in the middle of the most historic part of town. It was originally a quayside fish storage and treatment warehouse, but it has been totally renovated and converted to a wonderful hotel by the famous architectural company, Snøhetta. |

The rooms
Every room is unique and a tasteful blend of historic and modern design, with interiors by the well known arcitects Snøhetta (the creators of the Library of Alexandria, buildings at Ground Zero in New York and the Oslo Opera. The hotel has 46 rooms within its walls. “Room 47” is Molja lighthouse, at the entrance to Ålesund harbor – A place to dream. In addition to the rooms the seafood restaurant Maki (read more about it below) and conference rooms are available for your business and pleasure. |

Food & drink The old seafront building on Brosundet, built in Art Nouveau style following the catastrophic town fire of 1904, was used for the storage and treatment of salted fish right up to the 1980s. Now, the Hotel Brosundet once again welcomes the day’s catch fresh from the sea, as it features one of Norway’s premier fish restaurants: Maki. Off the lobby there is a charming bar that is also worth a visit. |
