The history A remote island off the coast of Stadlandet – respected and even feared among Norway’s shipping community due to its magnificent combination of stormy weather and strong currents. It is a fascinating story of how seafarers managed to build a lighthouse in such a difficult environment and how the lighthouse was manned for 100 years (from 1905 to 2005), and the many dramatic events that have transpired. It remains an important weather-station to this day. |

The surroundings The location has now been fully rehabilitated to create a location for adventurous house guests who want that special experience that you will always remember. On Svinøy you are at the mercy of the prevailing weather, but this is very much part of the experience.The only way to reach Svinøy is by helicopter, which says a lot about the island’s remote location, out in the open ocean off the coast of Stadt. It is a stormy, dramatic location, but also unique and exotic. Just three buildings, a small outhouse and a lighthouse on a windswept island, far out to sea. |
