The Hotel Union Øye is located in a peaceful village on Hjørundfjord, nestled among the Sunmmøre Alps and at the end of the valley of Norangdal, often described as Norway’s most beautiful. The hotel staff can direct you to the best climbs, whether you are a mountain hiker or a climber – and they can also arrange guides, for example for a trip to the summit of the majestic Slogen, which rises behind the hotel.

 

The hotel is well known as an exclusive and romantic setting for weddings, but it is also more than suitable for many other occasions, such as mystery tours, meetings and conferences, private vacations and anniversary celebrations

The rooms

Hotel Union Øye is unique in Scandinavia, both in terms of its location and its magnificent traditional style. You will not find a TV or a telephone in your room, but you will find an enchanting atmosphere and a relaxing calm.

 

The hotel presents itself in its magnificent splendour, just as it did originally when it opened in 1891. Each room carries the name of one of its famous guests that has stayed here. Queen Maud and King Haakon VII, Keiser Wilhelm II, Queen Beatrice, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Karen Blixen to name but a few. It is a reflection of the status of the hotel and of the attractions of the area.

 

The hotel has 27 rooms with their own very unique colours, interiors and soul. The rest of the hotel consists of dining and relaxation areas, a fireplace with deep chairs, as well as conference rooms for business meetings. On the walls, the shelves and tables of the hotel, you will find beautiful art and antiques - great for a sightseeing in space and time within the hotel itself.

Food & drink
In the beautiul surroundings the food will taste extra good. Previous guests of the hotel have praised the hotel’s kitchen, and you will find out why. The hotel chef will use short traveled goods of high quality, from one of the farms in the area or seafood from the nearby Hjørundfjord. A rich selection of wines will complement the meals. The open fire is witness not just to wonderful meals, but also to enchanting stories from the staff.
