Far out in the open ocean, west of Molde, one finds the island of Ona, Norway's most southern fishing community. At the center of the island at its highest point is the lighthouse built in 1867.
From the lighthouse there is a superb view of the open sea and the mainland coast. The charming island is still home to about 40 permanent residents, and it has become well-known for the ceramic pottery that is hand-made there. There is a small brigde connecting Ona to its neighbouring island of Husøy, which features a delightful long sandy beach.
Also not to be missed is the island's delicious fish-soup at the restaurant Havstuene (Not included)!
