Our guest’s health, safety and wellbeing will always have top priority in everything we do, and therefore I am writing you to give you an update on our position regarding the COVID-19 virus.
As stated in the joint statement from the World Health Organization and the World Tourism Organizations, global tourism’s response to the COVID-19 virus needs to be measured and consistent, proportionate to the public health threat and based on local risk assessment. At present, Norway is considered a low risk country. Nevertheless, we want to assure you that we are taking the situation seriously and are taking the necessary precautions. Following the recommendations and directives from the Norwegian National Health Services, as well as the World Health Organization, we have implemented guidelines for our guests and employees at all of our properties. All of our employees are receiving training in how to handle the situation, and we have established a central action plan for everyone to follow if the situation develops further. We will continue to closely monitor the latest developments, recommendations and preventative measures available and act accordingly.
Borrowing from Serge Dive, founder and CEO of This Is Beyond, I would like to share this quote from Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organisation:
“This is the time for facts, not fear. This is the time for science, not rumours. This is the time for solidarity, not stigma. We are all in this together, and we can only stop it together.”
We realize that some areas are more affected than ours, and I would like to send our deepest sympathies to those impacted. We understand the need for assurance and sharing of information, and strongly believe that this is a time for cooperation and unity across the industry. Therefore, we will do our best to work together with you to find the best possible solutions in this extraordinary situation, in hopes that it might ease some of the challenges met by you, our partners and guests.
