At a glance
The mountains at their finest
This is Norway at its most elemental. Snowshoeing to a remote fjord village, skiing in the Sunnmøre Alps, a winter kayak on glassy water, a sauna on the fjord's edge – seven days that take the season seriously, and end each evening in the warmth of some of the north's finest rooms.

Six days across Sunnmøre
Day by day
An outline of what awaits – each day shaped around the mountains, the fjords, and the particular stillness that only a Norwegian winter brings.

Day 1 — Arrival
Land in Ålesund and settle into Brosundet, at the heart of the city's Art Nouveau quarter. An evening guided walk through the snow-dusted streets, followed by dinner at LeSund.

Day 2 — From sea to plate
A fishing trip on the sound to start the morning, followed by a cold plunge and wellness session. An afternoon wine tasting at Vino Bar, and dinner at Apotekergata 5.

Day 3 — Into the fjord
A fjord cruise to Hjørundfjord, with lunch at the remote village of Trandal. Arrive at Union Øye and head out on snowshoes through the valley before dinner in the historic Dining Room and an evening of storytelling.

Day 4 — A day at the end of the valley
A winter kayak on the fjord in the morning, followed by the warmth of the fjord sauna. An afternoon signature dinner in the Conservatory.

Day 5 — On the slopes
Drive to Stranda for a day of alpine skiing in the Sunnmøre Alps before transferring to Storfjord Hotel as evening falls. Dinner in the restaurant.

Day 6 — Above it all
A helicopter flight over the snow-covered peaks and fjords in the morning, followed by time in the wellness facilities. Dinner in the boathouse as the winter night closes in.

Day 7 — Departure
A leisurely morning, then transfer to the airport. The falls will still be running when you leave.
Accomodations
Where you'll stay
Brosundet sits at the heart of Ålesund – at its most atmospheric in winter, with snow on the Art Nouveau rooftops and the sound reflecting the evening light. Union Øye is a 19th-century jewel at the head of the Norangfjord, where the surrounding peaks in winter make it feel like the rest of the world has gone quiet. Storfjord is a timber-clad forest retreat above the fjord, built for exactly this kind of cold – the sauna, the hot tub, the robes, the fireplace. We know these properties intimately – their best rooms, their rhythms, and what makes each one worth the journey.

Eat and drink
From cold waters
Winter is when the kitchen turns inward – slow-cooked and nourishing. The cold waters of the fjord are at their most generous in winter, with skrei season at its peak and shellfish as fresh as it gets. A fishing trip on the sound before the day properly begins. Wine tasting in Ålesund. Dinner in Union Øye's historic Dining Room, an evening in the Conservatory, and a final night in the boathouse at Storfjord. Union Øye and Storfjord are both Michelin Key recipients and members of Relais & Châteaux.
